'GRINDIN & RISING'

Candy Cartel Official Independent Artists Mixtapes Review

So I've decided to start doing Mixtape reviews for Independent Hip Hop Artist. This is for all the artists on the grind and on the rise. I consider myself to be very knowledgeable about good hip hop music, what will sell and what the people want. On top of that you hip hop music artist need to let someone critique your music and offer constructive criticism. I don't show any favoritism just because I know you, I'm going to ALWAYS be completely honest with my blog viewers. With that being said, I hope you enjoy and LET'S GO

Mookie Da1 ~ Closed Chapters
Mookie Da1 has taken the Southside of Atlanta to another level with his debut Mixtape entitle Close Chapters. Honestly I don't even know if it's right for me to call this a Mixtape which is full of material made for an album. The Mixtape has a great combination of lyrics which include money, struggling, dreams and last but not least God. Track #3 Money Aint the Problem is definitely a hit single and something you would definitely ride to, on that track Mookie shows his diversity with his flows and stamps hisself as a lyrical artist and explaining the want for success but not forgetting what's most important in route to it "i aint gonna run from the cake/imma come for the cake/throw it in the oven imma bake us one/split it with the team/a little bit of cream/we be living in a dream/don't hate me i'm..." Track #8 Tribute to Tragedy is beautiful yet metaphoric dedication to New Orleans and the 5 year Anniversary of "Katrina" where Mookie speaks of Katrina as if it was a actual woman "you should see the way she dances/round n round like a ballerina devastatingly romantic/seductive acted on her lust/ with force and instead of trust/ that all was well I shoulda just stepped off cuz of the hell she put me through"And he didn't forget the ladies with Track #10 Whats Happenin, with a nice R&B hook(artist unknown) then spits in one of his verses "I'll go inside ya/leave apart of my soul witcha". The Mixtape definitely has originality, diversity within the songs, and some hot singles. I would definitely like to hear more club bangers from Mookie in the future just to show a fun side of him as an artist. Overall I look forward to watching this artist grow and hearing more from him. But hey check it out for yourself and tell me what you think!

Young Jeezy "The Mixtape Heavy Weight Champion"

For years Jeezy has been shutting down and flooding the streets with his Mixtapes. From Trap or Die I to the latest The Last Laugh. With over 20 Mixtapes available for down on www.DatPiff.com Jezzy shows that he is indeed consistent with his Mixtape game. He's shitting on everybody else Mixtapes with his powerful beats, trap star rhymes, and street anthems. So I salute Young Jeezy and crown him

FREE LIL BOOSIE

I remember when I first heard Lil Boosie music, I was in the car with my homeboy in 2004 and he was playing that Gangsta Musik CD and that You Aint Bout What You Talkin Bout came on. I was like "Damn this nigga talkin real reckless n real hood like" . Boosie say "U ain't bout what u be talkin bout, U ain't ready for yo momma to be walkin out, That big ass church wit all yo people cryin hollerin bout, Why u had to take my son thats what them choppas bout(is u bout that boy)". Every since then I been fuckin wit Lil Boosie. He aint neva been a supa star but he always made gangsta music and ;something in his voice made you know that everything he talked about in his music was true and he could vouch for. Every street nigga and trap nigga I knew fucked wit Boosie which validated his street cred for me.

Lil Boosie had lived up to his nick name Boosie Bad Azz from good ol Baton Rouge, Lousiana. Lil Boosie was already incarcerated in November for probation violation on drug and gun charges and on June 17 was indicted on first degree murder charges. I definitely send out prayers to Lil Boosie as well as his 6 children. If I could tell Lil Boosie one thing it'll be " Do the time, don't let the time do you..ya know" but until then I'm still letting that Gansta Musik ride, for all the real street niggas.. FREE LIL BOOSIE and shoutout to Plies for that Track #12 entitled Boosie off his newest Mixtape "You Need People Like Me"

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TUPAC

One of the best that's ever done it....Happy Birthday..may he Rest in Peace. *Kisses*

"God

When I was alone, and had nothing

I asked for a friend to help me bear the pain

No one came, except God

When I needed a breathe to rise, from my sleep

No one could help me....except God

When all I saw was sadness, and I needed answers

No one heard me, except God

So when I'm asked...who I give my unconditional love to?

I look for no other name, except God"

Anyone that knows me knows that I LOVE HIP HOP...I like other genres of music too but I absolutely love hip hop. Now you would think that my love goes back to days with the Sugar Hill gang and the days with the big gold chains and Adidas sweats, but it doesn't. Call me the new generation of hip hop lovers. Now I am a little educated on hip hop past history and where it began don't get me wrong.... I do know who the 1st platinum selling rap album was which was run DMC's Raising Hell.... just in case you didn't know ;) ... But for me it started when I was 15yrs old with T.I's I'm Serious Album that I stole from my sister and listened to with my handheld CD player and head phones in my bed. Then my love was intensified when I got a hold of Eminem's Marshall Mather's LP.... 8 ball & MJG, Field Mob,Outkast, Bone Thugs in Harmony and many other creative minds evaded my ears as well. What amaze me so much and caught my attention was the way hip hop artists rode the beats and manipulated words creating a master piece of art. A way to express yourself without all the corniness that comes with just reading a poem. These artist told us stories within musical notes.. Whether I was sad, happy, or mad I could always find a track that I could relate to. So you could see how I could be in love with HIP HOP. Always there for me when I needed it and just a play button away. My love for HIP HOP often confused me because I couldn't rap or sing , but I was so fascinated by it. I have an amazing ear for music ..I'm able to perceive it from the view of a consumer or a label executive. So I took a interest in other venues of the music industry...artist mgmt, marketing, promo., etc as well as hosting, radio, & blogging . Hip Hop has birth even more artist over the years some of my my fav are (not listed in a specific order) Common, Andre 3000, Lupe Fiasco, T.I., Jezzy, Lil Wayne, Eminem, & my new new Wiz Khalifa just to name a few. Hip Hop has taken me all over the globe from the west to the east from the north to the south. Luckily I was born and raised and still reside in the present heart of Hip Hop which is Atlanta Campbellton Rd. S.W.A.T.S to be exact :) . Hip Hop is not just not just a genre of music it's a lifestyle ..that I live for..... and of course my love :)
